We are thrilled to celebrate Sena, who successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation: “Large-Scale Probabilistic Simulation: Advancements and Applications in Regional Hazard Analysis”, and was advised by Dr. Paolo Bocchini.
Sena’s research focuses on developing computational methods that make large-scale hazard simulations faster, more accurate, and more practical for resilient design. By combining uncertainty quantification, stochastic simulation, and structural engineering, her work helps stakeholders make better-informed decisions when navigating natural hazard uncertainties.
Reflecting on her graduate journey, Sena shared, “Throughout my Ph.D., I had the opportunity to collaborate with researchers across multiple disciplines and institutions, including civil engineering, mathematics, ecology, and public health. Those collaborations have been one of the most rewarding parts of my graduate journey.”
We’re also proud to share that she will be joining Penn State University as a Postdoctoral Scholar, focused on designing and managing climate-resilient infrastructure under uncertain and non-stationary future conditions. Looking ahead, her goal is to pursue a faculty career, continuing to advance research at the intersection of uncertainty quantification, infrastructure resilience, and probabilistic modeling.
