We are excited to share that CAT faculty member Dr. David Casagrande has been named a United Nations Faculty Fellow as part of the prestigious Lehigh University/UN program.

This initiative enables Lehigh faculty to directly engage with senior UN diplomats, Member State officials, and global thought leaders at the UN Headquarters in NYC and beyond. For David, this fellowship represents an incredible opportunity to scale catastrophe modeling and resilience research onto the global stage.

"This appointment will allow me to integrate resilience tools I've been developing throughout my career on a global basis," David shared. "The problems we face require global cooperation. I'm excited to be able to contribute to UN sustainability policy initiatives."

Through this fellowship, David plans to demonstrate how the Sustainability Impact Assessment (SIA), a new methodology he has been developing, can serve as a powerful tool to help the UN achieve its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By addressing limitations of the traditional Environmental Impact Assessments, SIA offers a more robust framework for evaluating policy interventions and international development projects.

Please join us in congratulating David on this well deserved honor! We look forward to seeing his research shape international policy and build a more climate-resilient future.
